The Deputy Sheriff - Patrol position is an integral part of the Montgomery County Government's Sheriff department. Under the supervision of a Corporal, you will perform a range of duties associated with law enforcement, including crime prevention, detection, and the apprehension of offenders. Your work will contribute to the preservation and protection of life and property, ensuring the maintenance of good public order and the enforcement of civil and criminal law. This position requires a high level of responsibility and the ability to work independently without immediate supervision.

- High School diploma or GED is required, with a valid driver's license.
- Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission certification is mandatory.
- Previous experience in law enforcement or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Physical fitness and the ability to pass a rigorous physical assessment.
- Proficiency in using office equipment and computer software for documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and the public.
- Knowledge of applicable state statutes, laws, and regulations is necessary.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Provide emergency response and handle critical situations effectively.
- Prevent and detect crime, and apprehend offenders, ensuring public safety.
- Accurately prepare and maintain records and reports, ensuring data integrity.
- Assist in the training of new personnel, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Stay updated with the Sheriff's Office Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines.
- Participate in recruitment and community relations activities, representing the department.
- Provide courtroom testimony when required, presenting factual evidence.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with the public, maintaining a professional image.
- React calmly and efficiently in emergency situations, providing assistance.
- Maintain physical fitness and the ability to perform law enforcement duties.
