REPORTING STRUCTURE

Reports to: SHEQ Manager, Crucible Zinc

THE ROLE

The Industrial Hygienist will drive the advancement of industrial hygiene programs and practices in operations. You will streamline the procedures necessary to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational exposures to chemical, physical, and biological stressors to employees. In collaboration with other members of management, lead the team in the implementation and management of a comprehensive occupational risk assessment strategy to ensure all potential workplace exposures are characterized and effectively controlled.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Plan and conduct the implementation and maintenance of the industrial hygiene program to ensure OSHA requirements are met.
  • Provide industrial hygiene support throughout the plant; identify potential exposure where sampling should be conducted to determine employee exposure.
  • Provide structured reports and other written communications of assessments to engage all levels of management to be proactive in managing potential exposures.
  • Maintain the company’s industrial hygiene programs and policies and ensure OSHA requirements are met.
  • Develop and modify industrial hygiene-related training.
  • Use independent judgment and work closely with the management team.
  • Work with all departments to provide technical guidance and corrective actions to reduce employee exposure to air contaminants.
  • Review, evaluate, and document sampling results.
  • Calibrate sampling equipment and conduct sampling throughout the facility.
  • Act as a resource for employees who have questions on hazardous chemicals and provide employees with sampling results.
  • Interface with Local, State and Federal regulatory agencies as necessary
  • Manage and train employees in Industrial Hygiene Sampling and documentation
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma required.
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with regulators such as TOSHA, is desirable, but not required
