Job Description

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining machines that fill and cap jars or bottles with food products such as mayonnaise, salad dressing, and other bottled goods.

Essential Position Functions And Duties

• Operate and maintain filling and capping machinery.
• Inspect and ensure cleanliness of filling & capping areas.
• Check for proper fit of bottles, caps, and product labels.
• Adjust machine settings to match bottle sizes and product fill levels.
• Collaborate with the Lead Person to confirm the correct product for each run.
• Perform routine checks for defective bottles, caps, and off-color or contaminated products.
• Flush hoses to ensure proper product flow before starting a new batch.
• Regularly monitor product temperature and adjust fill levels to meet specifications.
• Keep track of bottle and cap supply to prevent shortages during production.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks, including greasing machines and changing injector seals.
• Report any mechanical issues or downtime to the Lead Person or Production Supervisor.
• Complete downtime sheets and ensure all documentation is up to date.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards, including SQF 2000 System and company SOPs.
• Support other production lines as needed.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a production environment, food manufacturing is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust machines and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Ability to visually inspect bottles, caps, and products for defects.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality control.
• Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Experience with food safety and quality systems (SQF 2000) is a plus.
  
  

Expected Working Hours

This is a full-time position, and basic hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Hours depending on shift.

Work Environment

This job operates in a food production environment where raw materials are put through a process to produce a finished good that is suitable for consumption. This role is routinely surrounded by machinery, high/low lighting, temperature fluctuation, continuous noise and smells.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk and stand. This is a physical role. This would require the ability to push, pull, grasp, reach, stoop, squat, kneel, climb. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 50 lbs. Must wear non-slip resistant shoes.
