Job Title: Estimator (Industrial Construction)
Job Description:
The Industrial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial construction projects. This position analyzes project plans, specifications, labor requirements, equipment needs, subcontractor pricing, and material costs to develop detailed estimates and support successful project bidding. The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, operations, procurement, engineering, and clients to ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company estimating procedures and quality standards.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and related industrial construction disciplines.
- Develop detailed labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, procurement, and project management during the estimating process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required.
- Prepare bid summaries, cost analyses, and estimate review documentation.
- Maintain estimating databases, unit costs, historical cost information, and productivity factors.
- Assist in preparing proposals, bid packages, and presentation materials.
- Support project handoff meetings to operations following contract award.
- Monitor market conditions affecting labor availability, material pricing, and subcontractor capacity.
Desired Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- 2-5+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction.
- Experience estimating projects involving one or more of the following:
- Manufacturing facilities
- Chemical plants
- Power generation
- Food and beverage facilities
- Pulp and paper
- Water/Wastewater
- Heavy industrial facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPC or Design-Build delivery methods.
- Knowledge of industrial process equipment and systems.
- Experience with self-perform construction.
- Professional certifications such as:
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)
- Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
- Experience using estimating software such as:
- HCSS HeavyBid
- Sage Estimating
- InEight Estimate
- Trimble WinEst
- Bluebeam Revu
- Procore
- Autodesk Construction Cloud

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel to project sites for field verification and pre-bid meetings.
- Ability to safely access active construction sites while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Office environment with periodic visits to industrial construction sites.
- Occasional travel required.
- May require extended hours to meet bid deadlines.
