Corporate Quality Manager
Position Summary
The Corporate Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) across all operations, projects, and fabrication facilities. This role ensures compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality expectations while promoting continuous improvement throughout the organization.
The Corporate Quality Manager provides leadership and oversight for quality assurance and quality control activities related to industrial construction, fabrication, welding, coatings, mechanical systems, and field operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide quality programs, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Lead internal and external quality audits.
- Support and maintain certifications and compliance programs including ISO, AWS, ASME, AISC, API, and customer-specific requirements.
- Develop and monitor quality KPIs and performance metrics.
Operational Support
- Provide quality leadership and support to fabrication shops, field construction projects, and operational teams.
- Review inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and root cause analyses.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and production leaders to resolve quality-related issues.
- Assist with pre-job planning, inspection test plans (ITPs), turnover documentation, and customer quality requirements.
- Ensure proper material traceability and documentation processes are maintained.
Leadership & Training
- Supervise QA/QC personnel, inspectors, coordinators, and document control staff.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management for quality team members.
- Develop and conduct quality-related training programs.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve quality systems, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives.
- Support Lean manufacturing, process improvement, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Analyze trends, audit findings, and quality data to drive improvements.
Customer & Vendor Relations
- Interface with customers, third-party inspectors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support customer audits, project inspections, and turnover meetings.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier and subcontractor quality performance.
Desired Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
- Minimum 5–10 years of quality management experience in industrial construction, fabrication, manufacturing, or related industry.
- Experience managing QA/QC programs across multiple projects or facilities preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, coatings, mechanical systems, and industrial construction practices.
Certifications Preferred
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
- ASNT Level II or III
- AMPP/NACE Coatings Inspector
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification
- Six Sigma or Lean certifications preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industrial codes/standards.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documents.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb, bend, and work in industrial and construction environments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to access active construction sites, fabrication shops, elevated work areas, and confined spaces when necessary.
- Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator, and fall protection equipment as required.
Work Environment
- Combination of office, fabrication shop, and field construction environments.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, welding operations, and heavy equipment.
- Travel to jobsites and company facilities may be required.
