POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Lead is responsible for performing any and all tasks involved in the fabrication of copper tubing components according to router or work instructions, managing production flow, performing first part validation, training associates, and any other requirements for the assigned section.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Reads routers (work instructions), performs work, and complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and motivate team members in the assigned area to achieve production goals
  • Program and make necessary adjustments to machines for production needs
  • Operate equipment and work at different workstations as production needs require, including shifting from one station to another, during the manufacturing process; able to fill in and cover other positions as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and determine corrective action for machinery when necessary - performs minor cleaning, minor repairs as necessary.
  • May utilize hand or power tools as required.
  • Perform First Piece Validation for all work within area; may perform for other sections as well
  • Detects and reports defective materials, questionable conditions or incorrect Routers to the shift supervisor, engineering or quality control.
  • Accountable for Fabrication Team in producing components that meet router specifications and quality requirements.
  • Perform re-works and removal of burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
  • Place any scrap in the designated scrap bin for work area.
  • Trains and assist associates in learning processing procedures, operating and programming machines, reading tape measures, reading routers, understanding terminology and determining copper tubing lengths, sizing, etc.
  • Responsible for supporting new equipment installation and validation.
  • Ensures employees practice safe work habits and utilize appropriate and required PPE.
  • Promotes teamwork within department.
  • Responsible for the 5S housekeeping system within assigned work areas – individually and within department.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Works with other Team Leads to assure parts are produced in a timely and quality acceptable fashion.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:


JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to lead and motivate employees in a positive and constructive manner
  • Advanced reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Must be able to utilize tape measure, decimal and fraction.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings/blueprints and follow routers (work instructions)
  • Must be able to use basic handheld measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in standing position throughout shift, with frequent walking.
