Job Title: Procurement Special Projects

Who Are We?

THE ROLE:

  • To provide the necessary information and analysis to support procurement decision making.
  • To negotiate deals at the lowest possible total cost of ownership for goods and services, primarily for projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

A. ANALYST ROLE

  • Builds and distributes relevant market knowledge.
  • Conducts industry analysis, supplier analysis, scenario analysis, risk assessments, etc.
  • Identifies the right sources of information (news providers, study centers, a.o.) and set up the necessary channels to get the right information to the right person.
  • Investigates new opportunities on the market for new suppliers, products report findings to groups users (sourcing teams on the sites, user and project team within the site)
  • Identifies new information needs.
  • Evaluates procurement practices and provides input for procurement decisions.
  • Evaluates tactical and operational procurement processes and provides feedback on experiences with methodology, best practices etc.
  • Provides input for category strategy development, product and production process development (e.g. develop preliminary TCO and supply plans) and logistics strategies and implementation plans.

Manages the procurement categories:

  • Prioritizes categories that need to have a strategic sourcing effort.
  • Provides input for and validates strategic and tactical procurement decisions.
  • Uses relationships with internal customers to provide guidance.
  • Ensures the necessary cooperation with other departments when required.
  • fulfills reporting needs.
  • designs necessary reports for ad hoc queries.
  • identifies recurrent reporting needs and make these available
  • Communicates and trains people on using these reports measures and reports KPI’s.
  • Runs the queries, needed to obtain scores on the KPI’s.
  • Presents results in a fixed (visual) format.
  • Reports results to management and internal departments
  • Makes suggestions for improvements in terms of the management program, ISO procedures and general purchasing operational conditions.

B. PURCHASER ROLE

  • Negotiates deals at lowest total cost of ownership.
  • Develops, completes and sends out Requests for Proposal (RFP)
  • Negotiates prices and delivery terms in accordance with Nyrstar policies, assists in performing suppliers' capabilities evaluation.
  • Prepares regional and corporate contracts.
  • Focus will be primarily on projects.
  • Participates in the development of the project sourcing plan.
  • Participates in project meetings.
  • Monitors compliance with agreed terms such as price, delivery time, payment terms, and guarantees.
  • Checks overdue deliveries, creates reminders and issues complaints letters.
  • Deals with complaints and disputes. Resolves problems, possibly being the intermediate between suppliers and internal users regarding shortcomings in the products, timeliness of delivery or lack of the necessary documents.
  • Acts as a leading buyer and participates in inter site sourcing teams.
  • Manages supplier database by conducting supplier audits and assessments.
  • Monitors and reports on supplier performance
  • Contributes to evaluating suppliers' performance.
  • Provides feed-back to suppliers and launches incentives/corrective action programs.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A commercial or technical degree, experience in project buying is a plus.
  • Must be in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Must speak and write fluently English.

Category Management-

Category mgt is the ability to define and implement the purchasing strategy and objectives for the assigned package of goods and services, including internal and external data analysis, evaluation of functional scopes, optimization of supplier's base, globalization, total cost of ownership, risk analysis, … Experience in project management is a plus.

Suppliers' Management-

Suppliers' management looks for enhancement of the performance of individual suppliers through evaluation and quality management to achieve lowest total cost of ownership and increased service and customer satisfaction. It is part of the contract management.

Sourcing-

The ability to make desk and field research for new and alternative suppliers and markets (e.g., emerging markets, technologies, …) including networking with other sites of the group and recognizing potential of globalization.

Negotiation-

The ability to close the best deals for Nyrstar in accordance with Nyrstar policy of fostering long term relationships with our suppliers.

Contracting-

The ability to close deals that are commercially and legally fully compliant with Nyrstar policy and strategy, in team with and consulting the appropriate internal stakeholders.

Stock Management-

The ability to define parameters for stock management of spare parts and consumables: reordering points, min and max stock levels, economic order quantities, … (if required for the portfolio)

SAP and SRM and other e-sourcing tools-

The ability to use SAP as information tool to produce reports and analyze them, to answer specific requests and issues and solve them. The ability to use DMS and RIMS for reporting and management.

Internal procedures-

Have the required knowledge of the internal procedures of Nyrstar (GCP, safety, others, …) and act as ambassador to help internal customers to comply with these procedures that are important for good functioning of the supply chain for indirect spend.
