General Description:

Works to ensure safe, high quality, highly efficient chopped strand production and packaging in a continuous improvement work environment. Works with bushings, choppers, and pack-out equipment to ensure production goals are met and exceeded. Performs work duties from written or verbal work instructions. Adheres to all plant policies and rules. Maintains exceptional safety and housekeeping standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Strong desire to work safely and help others also work safely. Takes primary responsibility for their own safety. Follows all policies and procedures. Understands safety is a condition of employment.
  • Efficiently and quickly pulls glass from bushing break outs and places into choppers.
  • Ensures efficient forming process and chopper operation. Troubleshoots and implements corrective action as needed.
  • Identifies poor performing bushings and positions. Troubleshoots and implements corrective action.
  • Monitors critical process variables and product quality including but not limited to, bushing temperatures, air flows, prepad spray pressure and volume, applicator speed, chopper speed, and cut quality.
  • Obtains bushing melt rate samples and other quality checks as needed.
  • Inspects fiber production and product quality during pack-out process.
  • Packages fiber into containers. Assigns all product identification labels.
  • Weighs, packages, seals, and labels all fiber production.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Beneficial Experience and Skills:

  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Training Requirements:

  • General and all job specific training including safety, housekeeping, job procedures, forms, etc.

§ Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.

§ Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp.

§ Vision correctable to 20/20 or better.

§ Employees will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

§ Required to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule including working days and nights.

PPE Requirements:

  • Hat with brim, tinted and non-tinted safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and protective sleeves. Additional PPE may also be required at times depending on the task performed.
