Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Sr. Manager of Capital Projects is responsible for capital project execution across a portfolio of multiple projects at the Clarksville, TN Microvast site. It is anticipated that the Sr. Manager of Capital Projects will lead a team of Project Managers, Construction Managers and Project Controls personnel towards the successful project execution at the Clarksville site. It is anticipated that the project portfolio will include multiple projects from $1MM in value to over $400MM in value with an aggressive portfolio of projects to be executed to support Microvast’s growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages multi-discipline engineering related Capital Projects such that the safety, quality, cost and schedule targets are achieved and meet the Capital Plan for the site.
  • Implements Projects in accordance with the Microvast Capital Management Process (MCMP) Standard and follow organizational accounting requirements.
  • Manages the Capital modifications on multi-discipline Projects to meet customer requirements.
  • Obtains user requirements, design verification and statutory approval where required.
  • Manages external Consulting Engineering Services with support from the Senior Manager of Production Engineering at the site.
  • Manages the Design Approval process during the development of every Project to ensure input is obtained from the appropriate disciplines and changes are made to the design as required.
  • Manage progress, reviews and completion of FEED, detailed design, purchase specifications and construction packages for compliance with statutory requirements, appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate hazard and risk reviews are conducted and all issues identified are actioned.
  • Coordinates the development of procedures and provision of resources for the commissioning of relevant Projects together with Operations.
  • Manages the bid process and awards contracts in conjunction with Purchasing for FEED and detailed design, preparation of purchase specifications, preparation of construction packages and construction.
  • Ensures all employees and contractors undertaking Project work on the USA site are effectively supervised such that safety, quality, costs and schedule targets are achieved.
  • Supports the Director of Engineering in the development of the annual site capital plan and undertakes studies and develops costs and options for Capital Plan development.
  • Develops project schedules for the project portfolio and ensures that individual projects meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Provide reporting on the capital projects and capital portfolio.
  • Serves as a strong people leader to the Capital Projects team ensuring that the team acts in line with Microvast people’s values and goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree; Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred. PMP certification considered an asset.
  • Ten or more years of Project Management experience encompassing all aspects from conceptual development and design through execution, construction and close out.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Refining and/or Petrochemical plant environment. Experience in a battery production environment a plus.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience with all phases of Project Management, including a stage / gate approach for development of projects.
  • Solid understanding of Financial principles for Capital projects, project appropriation and project control.
  • Solid proven experience on dealing with project portfolio, project controls, schedule and cost estimates.
  • Exhibits participation in safety and quality culture in design and construction.
  • Computer literacy, including engineering design packages.
