Type: Exempt; Full-time
About the position
We are looking for a reliable Mold Repair Technician to inspect, repair, maintain, and modify molds used in the tire manufacturing process to support production requirements, improve mold quality, and minimize production downtime.
Responsibilities are:
- Mold Inspection: Inspect molds for wear, damage, defects, and areas requiring repair
- Mold Repair: Repair molds using appropriate tools, equipment, and repair techniques
- Mold Modification: Modify molds in accordance with engineering changes, production requirements, and process improvements
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Prepare and maintain documents, such as lists and inspection reports, that track the profile, data, and history of repaired and modified molds
- Quality Control: Continuously monitor molds to ensure products meet quality standards. Use measuring tools for verification when necessary
- Machining and Finishing Work: Perform grinding, polishing, fitting, machining, and finishing work on molds as required
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during production to minimize downtime
- Correction and Modification: Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Safety: Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures
- Collaboration: Work closely with all other team members, including die makers, maintenance staff, and supervisors, to ensure smooth and efficient production
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements are:
Education:
- (Preferred) high school diploma or GED
Experience:
- (Preferred) previous relevant experience
Language:
- (Required) good command of written and spoken English
Skills and Knowledge:
- Tool and Equipment Operation - Ability to use hand tools, power tools, grinders, polishers, and machining equipment
- Drawing Interpretation - Ability to read and understand blueprints, working drawings, and specifications
- Precision Measurement - Ability to accurately use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and condition
- Quality Control Understanding - Understanding of quality standards and inspection methods
- Critical Thinking Skills - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively
- Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
- Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
