Job Title: EHS Coordinator
Department:

Shift:
Nights 545pm-6am, 2-2-3 fixed schedule (Shift placement will be based on position availability)
Direct Report:
Health & Safety Unit Manager
Type: Non-Exempt; Full-time

About the EHS Coordinator position

We are looking for an EHS Coordinator to maintain environmental, health, and safety standards within the manufacturing facility and ensuring safety standards are met through inspection and evaluations. This position will have dotted-line responsibility to the Environmental Unit Manager and will support the EHS Team in all areas as required to complete team tasks.

EHS Coordinator responsibilities are:

  • Provides a positive influence on the safety culture through proper safety attitudes, appearances, and actions
  • Be the first-line safety presence of the EHS Team
  • Conduct safety patrols to ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Work closely with management and supervisors to ensure proper safety is practiced in the workforce
  • Inspect machines for safety devices and machine guard condition
  • Inspect manufacturing workers PPE to ensure proper wear and good working condition of the PPE
  • Assist in the transport and distribution of hazardous chemicals, such as solvents, in the product environment
  • Inspect safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, emergency stops, light curtains, machine guards, eye wash stations, and other equipment as designated
  • Support EHS Team in identifying potential safety hazards
  • Assist in incident investigations by securing the scene, documenting conditions, persons involved, and assisting in the investigation as directed by the person in charge
  • Respond to fire alarms, assist in evacuations, correct false alarms, and assist incident commanders in the event of a major incident
  • Assist in annual reviews, inspections, audits, and assessments as needed by the EHS Team
  • Create reports on daily activities and events that occur within the assigned shift
  • Assist in monitoring programs, such as ensuring testing equipment is properly worn or positioned for accurate testing during the shift
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

    EHS Coordinator requirements are:

      Education:

      • (Required) high school diploma or GED
      • (Preferred) bachelor's degree; occupational safety and health, environmental safety and health, or related major

      Experience:

      • (Required) 2+ years of manufacturing safety experience

      Language:

      • (Required) good command of written and spoken English

      Skills & Knowledge:

      • Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
      • Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
      • Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe and security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
      • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
      • Active Listening & Speaking - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; talking to others to convey information effectively
      • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
      • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
      • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

      Physical Demands:

      • Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
      • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
      • Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
      • Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
