About the Environmental Unit Manager position

We are looking for a Team Manager to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, procedures, activities, and staff of the Environmental Unit within the EHS Team. To effectively lead and support technical and behavioral compliance with all Environmental related regulations and drive activities for a safe and environmentally sound workplace. To remain up-to-date with EHS related laws and regulations, communicate timely with the workforce and support modification of company documents and/ or practices to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Environmental Unit Manager responsibilities are:

• Maintaining site’s Environmental Management System to ensure adherence to ISO 14001
• Creating and implementing environmental strategies, policies, and action plans to promote sustainable product manufacture
• Leading projects to reduce environmental impacts, such as pollution control, waste management, recycling, and renewable energy
• Overseeing the organization's performance to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and standards
• Promoting environmental issues and training staff on their responsibilities
• Analyzing and reporting environmental performance to clients and regulatory bodies
• Carrying out environmental impact assessments to identify and reduce environmental risks
• Working with senior management, specialist consultants, and contractors
• Supporting EHS Team with Safety and Environmental Management system to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Certifications
• Staying current with legislation, regulations, permits, and consents
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Environmental Unit Manager requirements are:

Education:

• (Required) Bachelor’s degree
• (Preferred) Environmental Science or Environmental Studies; advanced degree in a related field preferred

Experience:

• (Required) 5 - 10 years of relevant manufacturing, ISO 14001, Permitting, and Industrial Waste Management experience
• (Preferred) Previous experience in tire manufacturing industry desired

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
• Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
• Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds
