Position Objective: The Category Manager will play a key role to deliver market, customer, and category insights based on sales and market data. To be successful in this role, you must have experience as a conceptual thinker who enjoys strategic conversations, as well as have the ability to dig deep into the data and translate insights into stories.
Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Category Manager to join the team in our Clarksville, TN office.
Position Responsibilities:
Deliver category, customer, and brand insights based on all available sales and market data
Utilize insights to create recommendations to be presented to the teams on how and where to drive their businesses
Develop and deliver sales and market performance dashboard reports that will be shared with our internal commercial team to ensure we consistently have a pulse on our performance across our channels and customer base
Lead and conduct assortment analyses and plan-o-gram recommendations that the sales teams can utilize to make strategy-based assortment recommendations to customers
Measure productivity performance of new item launches
Monitor key business initiatives via dashboards and weekly reports that are able to effectively communicate to the leadership team
Lead the data collection and analysis of all pricing initiatives to understand how we are priced and promoted versus the competition, and provide recommendations to the teams on areas for improvement
Support the annual SKU rationalization process, ensuring we always have the most productive assortment in our portfolio
Build collaborative partnerships with our data providers and key customers who provide POS data
Partner on consumer insights projects with the innovation team to support research needs and leverage in market data to round out new recommendations
Work closely with the Business Analysts on each of our customer teams to provide a unified reporting suite on business performance
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or a related field
4-7 years of experience in a category management role, prior CPG and/or automotive battery experience preferred
A strong knowledge of Category Management practices and tools (Nielsen, Panel Data, JDA space planning)
Proven ability to translate data into insights via storytelling that supports the effective management of the business at the category level
Able to engage in both strategic and tactical work, and transition between modes of operation easily
Demonstrated analytical abilities with an outcome-focused mindset
Well-developed written and oral presentation skills
Ability to collaborate and communicate cross-functionally
Able to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively
Collaborative, team player with a “can-do” attitude
Ability to travel to meet with customers
