The Development & PR Coordinator supports the organization's growth by managing relationships with donors and patrons, and executing fundraising appeals. This position sits at the intersection of fundraising and public relations, requiring excellent sales and communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a passion for music.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Fundraising (95%)
● Partnerships: secure corporate sponsorships, local business sponsors, and Playbill ads sales. Collaborate with the Executive Director, Music Director, and Board to build and deliver on meaningful community partnerships.
● Communications: work closely with Marketing Coordinator to create campaigns that generate revenue for the GCO
● Fundraising Campaigns: Support the planning, timelines, and execution of the Annual Fund appeal (“Friends of GCO”), year-end giving campaigns, and direct mail/email fundraising efforts.
Administrative (5%)
● Concert Duties: Attend all season concerts to manage donor check-ins, VIP needs, and staff the marketing/fundraising table.
● Attend Board Meetings as needed; educate Board about their role in fundraising and advancement, and to leverage their respective networks to expand the donor base and community ambassadors for the organization.
Qualifications & Skills
● Experience: 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, or sales—arts experience strongly preferred.
● Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft compelling, persuasive communications.
● Technological Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with CRM databases and social media platforms.
● Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and self-starter mentality.
● Passion for Music: Interest in classical chamber music and community-driven nonprofit organizations. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
● This remote position requires working in a fast-paced environment and flexible hours, including weekends and evenings for concerts. Reports to the GCOs Executive Director.
● Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. (e.g., promotional materials, event equipment).
Compensation: This is a part-time, base plus commission contract position. Salary commensurate with experience.
