POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Utility Associate/Utility Operator to join our team in Clarksville, TN. You will be responsible for packing/crating large slab tile. Reporting to the Selection Supervisor, your attention to detail and quality control skills will be crucial in maintaining efficiency and supporting our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor or to support the overall objectives of the department and company. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Packing and Crating: Securely prepare, wrap, cushion, and pack a variety of products for safe shipment, adhering to established packing guidelines and selecting appropriate packing materials.
  • Material Handling: Utilize hand tools, equipment (if applicable), and proper lifting techniques to efficiently load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control tasks including stock rotation, maintaining accurate stock levels, and identifying potential stockouts specifically for selection operations (e.g., focusing on slab tile inventory for selection).
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following established housekeeping procedures and putting away materials after use within the selection area.

Machine Operation: Operate warehouse machinery (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently to support selection operations (e.g., transporting crates of slab tiles), following all safety protocols and receiving proper training.

  • Support Selection Operations: Assist with a variety of tasks as needed within the selection department, which may include retrieving and staging materials for selection, preparing packing stations, and assisting colleagues with selection processes.
  • Adhere to Safety Procedures: Follow all established safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safety-conscious work environment.
  • Maintain Work Quality: Perform assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring quality standards are met in packing, material handling, and other duties related to selection operations.

  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Materials: Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Critical Thinking: Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, quality control personnel, and production supervisors, to ensure seamless integration of mill operation within the overall manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Active Learning: ability to learn and understand new information and apply it to problem solving and decision making.
  • Mathematics: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and use decimals.
  • Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards: Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • On the Job Training is provided. No previous experience is required to perform the job.
  • Forklift experience preferred
