This position is charged with the responsibility of creating and implementing the overall marketing strategies as well as directing the organizations unified marketing and communications for the EDC, the Chamber and the IDB.  This position will also play a key role in the development, implementation, and management of the correlating ASPIRE Clarksville investor relations program. Responsible for researching and communicating the key messages, both internally and externally, and advancing the marketing goals of the EDC and its participating member entities under the direct supervision of the EDC CEO and in frequent close collaboration with the Executive Directors of all three member entities. This position will be required to collaborate with the CVB marketing personnel as directed.

 GENERAL DUTIES

1.               Research, development, writing and dissemination of high quality, original written content for a variety of platforms such as proposals, presentations, advertising, tracking, printed materials, newsletters, annual reports, internet/web site, social media and press releases.

2.               Supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing and Design.

3.               Research and maintain current data on economic development trends regionally, statewide and nationwide.

4.               Manage media relations as the chief communications “point person” by coordinating press conferences, interviews and other media events/needs.

5.               Plan and execute EDC and member entity events as requested.

6.               Develop positive working relationships with local and regional level media contacts, as well as national publications that pertain to our organization(s).

7.               Act as communications/media/technical advisor for the participating member entities and work collaboratively with CVB marketing personnel.

8.               Provide support for the EDC and the member entities as requested, including development of the annual Aspire marketing and communication plan(s), budget development, monthly planning, and member entity meetings.  In coordination with the input from the Assistant Director of Marketing & Design.

9.               Monitor and oversee the written content of the entities’ websites and ensure accuracy and timeliness

10.            Provide oversight of all non-CVB brands, branding strategies, social media policies, with input on final design and campaign.

11.            Assist the member entities marketing staff with projects, digital campaigns and events as needed. Collaborate on communications and public outreach.

12.            Provide strategic planning and execution of elected official and public education initiatives.

13.            Provide planning and oversight of Aspire’s campaign promotion, annual reports and communication initiatives.

14.            Assist Aspire Executive Director with Aspire’s investor relations and assist with prospect development efforts.

15.            Attend all functions where senior representation of the EDC is expected and required.

16.            Any other duties assigned by the leadership of the EDC.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong writing and composition skills with excellent verbal clarity and accuracy.

  • Successful track record of creativity in all forms of communication.

  • Ability to proof and offer layout and design edits.

  • Ability to come up with next generation concepts and the ability to eloquently explain your concept.

  • High level interpersonal skills with all level of employees, volunteer leadership of the EDC and member entities, media, government officials, and the general public.

  • Successful Leadership/Motivational/Supervisory/Presentation Skills.

  • Strong organizational/detail skills.

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, presentation tools, website maximization tools, and social media platforms.

  • InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge a plus.

  • Physical and sensory abilities to perform the essential duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Graduation from a 4-year college or university in a related field (required).

  • Previous experience in public relations/communications/marketing/media relations/graphic design, preferably in a non-profit environment.

*Exempt employees are not subject to wage & hour laws and therefore not compensated for overtime hours.
