Reports to: Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce Internal Customers: EDC President & CEO Chamber of Commerce leadership and staff Executive Director, Tourist Commission Executive Director, Industrial Development Board SCOPE The Military and Government Affairs staff will administer and coordinate a comprehensive program ensuring that Clarksville-Montgomery County continues to benefit economically from the presence of Fort Campbell in the community. Additionally, a key focus of this position will be on initiatives to maintain and improve the quality of life of the soldiers (and their families) that reside within the community, encouraging them to live, work, shop, play, and ultimately retire in the community. This position will also coordinate the development of federal, state, and local government initiatives that support economic development. GENERAL DUTIES

  1. Represent the organization and community at events and continue to foster support of the community from Ft. Campbell 2 .Assist Executive Director in developing and implementing programs for soldiers and their families
  2. Coordinate with Executive Director to serve as community liaison with Ft. Campbell
  3. Work closely with the community and Ft. Campbell on issues that will enhance the mission of the Chamber of Commerce
  4. As needed, work with Executive Director and the directors of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Industrial Development Board, and the EDC Communications team to keep Ft. Campbell and its community at the forefront of economic development concerns.
  5. Promote relationships between the Ft. Campbell leadership and the Chamber leadership.
  6. Work with Executive Director, chairpersons and members of the Public & Community Affairs and Military Affairs Committees to identify and research issues and provide input on local, state, and federal issues. Ability to share community affairs on social media platforms.
  7. Coordinate political forums during election years.
  8. Coordinate and make necessary decisions for the operations of programs and assure the programs stay within budget guidelines. Acquire sponsors for military related events and programs and post accordingly on social media.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED Preference for and proven success with highly detailed work Knowledge of event terminology and best practices Ability and flexibility to prioritize and work on multiple assignments Ability to forecast needs and trends and plan accordingly Ability to exercise mature judgment and tact Ability to professionally manage diverse groups of people Preference for fast paced, goal and team oriented environment Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines, with minimal supervision Ability to coordinate, engage and fully utilize member expertise Professional appearance Preference for working with all levels of internal and external contacts Excellent verbal, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, social media platforms and other software programs QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant field Minimum 1 year experience in event coordination or related field.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work environment will require walking, standing, bending and carrying of items weighing 25-50 lbs. Must have own mode of transportation and a valid driver’s license. Requires ability to attend early morning and evening events *Non-exempt employees receive an hourly wage, are subject to wage and hour laws, and are compensated for overtime hours (generally in the form of compensatory time off). Approved time on mobile devices which contributes to hours in excess of 40 hours can only be tolerated insofar as comp-time can be awarded. Unapproved or unknown time over 40 hours cannot be tolerated due to Federal Wage and Hour implications as well as inconvenient comp-time obligations.
