CDE Lightband, the municipal electric and broadband power provider for the City of Clarksville, offers electric, television, internet, and phone service to customers within the city limits. CDE Lightband serves over 84,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service and over 30,000 customers with broadband services over our Fiber to the Premise Network.
To better meet our customers' needs, CDE Lightband shall offer a weekend shift for full-time Operation Line Crews. (Full-time employment as defined per Policy 3-23). We are seeking the ideal team player to join our Electric Lineworker Team to fill the AP4 Apprentice Lineworker position. The individual will remain in the position until a position opens that allows progression to the next level in the Apprentice program. Progression is based upon knowledge, experience, and performance, not time-in-grade or seniority, and does not guarantee advancement to the next level. The supervisor evaluates performance.
All Applicants should have the stated experience, including work towards or completion of a five-year line worker apprenticeship program approved by the DOL, Bureau of Apprenticeships.

Job Summary
Highly skilled and trained position, working closely under the supervision of a Foreman, a Journeyman, and the General Foreman. Incumbents are trained to construct and maintain overhead and underground electrical service distribution systems. Responsibilities may include participating in the installation, repair, replacement, and inspection of equipment and materials required to transmit and distribute electric power. Work performed may need to be done while energized. Employees are also expected to maintain an inventory of standard parts and equipment, maintain records of activities as required by policy and procedure, and uphold the highest safety standards as set forth in the American Public Power Association (APPA) Safety Manual and any other safety policies, rules, and regulations.
Apprenticeship will follow the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) Apprentice.
Lineman Training Program (or a similar program approved by the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeships and Training) with corresponding step progressions, pending performance within the Program, and as evaluated by the Foreman. Progressions and step timing are not guaranteed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists with installing, maintaining, and repairing electric systems, which may include Constructing, installing, removing, and servicing secondary distribution lines overhead and underground, and performing work on energized and de-energized lines. Frequently requires digging when installing poles, anchors, and underground lines.
• Effectively capable of climbing utility poles to perform work when necessary, safely, and all safety requirements on an annual basis
• Operates vehicles of various sizes, weights, and descriptions safely and cautiously, following all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including DOT and Commercial Driver's License requirements.
• Attend regular training as required for the Apprenticeship Program; maintain testing requirements per progression standards; attend any other meetings, training, or other programs needed as set forth, including all safety meetings; and maintain and follow all safety requirements as set by CDE Lightband, APPA, OSHA, TOSHA, and any other local, state, or regulatory agency.
• Monitors and maintains an inventory of parts and equipment while working with warehouse personnel to maintain accurate outgoing and incoming connections with assigned work; notifies supervisor when levels are low
Qualifications
| Education: | High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) |
| Experience: | 3-5 years of experience in electric distribution line work, including formal Lineworker Apprenticeship Training, is required. |
| Certifications & Licenses: | Completed Apprenticeship Training to receive Journeyman Standing. |
| Other Requirements: | An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential duties is also considered. |

• Skilled in Basic Computer and related software applications
• Skilled in reading and comprehending training documents
• Skilled in and the Ability to perform physical work during extreme conditions for the entire workday and beyond into extended hours if necessary, if job duties require.

Working Conditions
• Indoor/Outdoor working position, requiring incumbents to travel from the office to the worksite via company vehicle.
• Requires constant indoor and outdoor work with potential for extreme outdoor temperatures
• Potential to work outside regular working hours
• Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, dust, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, intense noises, environmental disturbances, workspace restrictions, and travel.
• Position will be scheduled for 'On-Call' Rotation requiring weekend and holiday work
• Reside no farther than 30 minutes (max) driving from the primary office location.
