CDE Lightband, the municipal power provider for the City of Clarksville, offers electric, television, Internet and phone service to customers within the city limits. CDE Lightband serves over 80,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service and over 30,000 customers with broadband services over our Fiber to the Premise Network.

We are looking for candidates to join our Project Engineering team as a Project Engineering Specialist. Incumbents respond to after-hours issues and emergencies requiring the ability to address a wide variety of issues and emergencies independently, utilize SCADA, mapping, IVR, OMS, customer accounting, and similar systems; and perform duties of the lower levels.

All Applicants should have the stated experience, which should include at least an Associate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field and at least four-years working experience in an electrical distribution system, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergency and after-hours issues and emergencies, which includes performing the duties of subordinates and prioritizing assignments.
  • Prepares, updates, and reviews diagrams of underground and overhead electrical lines and fiber optic lines; maintains and locates necessary information for new projects.
  • Utilizes applicable equipment & software, which may include SCADA, mapping, IVR, OMS, & related systems.
  • Reviews incoming projects to determine their impact on the electrical system; coordinates activities with customers; initiates work orders to begin construction; stakes jobs for construction. Coordinates work with contractors, as necessary.
  • Initiates the work order process for work crews to install or repair lines.
  • Prepares a variety of operational records and basic reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned of a similar nature or to provide assistance as needed

Qualifications

Education:

Associates Degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related field

Experience:

Four-Years' Experience in an electrical distribution system

Certifications & Licenses:

Class D Driver's License

CPR/AED or ability to obtain upon hire

Other Requirements:

Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job also considered

  • Knowledgeable of electrical construction principles, practices and techniques
  • Knowledgeable of electrical engineering principles, practices and techniques
  • Knowledgeable of SCADA systems and hardware
  • Knowledgeable of Occupational hazards & Safety Regulations associated with electrical transmission & distribution
  • Knowledgeable of and Skilled in Customer Service practices and principles
  • Skilled in Basic Computer and related software applications
  • Skilled in Utilizing necessary field equipment, and Assisting with electrical and fiber mapping systems
  • Skilled in Installing and Maintaining SCADA hardware
  • Skilled in Coordinating operational activities, and Preparing and processing work orders
  • Skilled in Organizing and presenting data, preparing operational records and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and individually, and to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both written and through the spoken word.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety

Working Conditions

  • Indoor & Outdoor working position, requiring incumbents to travel from office to work site via company vehicle.
  • Requires constant indoor & outdoor work with potential for extreme outdoor temperatures
  • Potential to work outside normal working hours on occasion
  • Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, dusts, poor ventilation, intense noises, environmental disturbances, work space restrictions, working from extended heights and travel.
  • Position could be scheduled for 'On-Call' Rotation
