BSN graduates consistently have exceptional NCLEX pass rates, well above national average. The program is proud of its facilities with state of the art classroom and simulation labs. Online teaching includes the MSN program and RN to BSN courses. The RN to BSN program is growing and expanding to meet the needs of the community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach 30 hours per academic year of clinical and didactic content in the undergraduate nursing.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activity consistent with the School of Nursing if desired.
- Willingness to pursue grant funding is desirable.
- Teach classroom content and clinical.
- Be willing to teach in a variety of areas including on or off campus.
- Clinical teaching responsibilities include day and/or night hours; week day and/or weekends.
- Evidenced-based knowledge of area of discipline to be taught.
- Commitment to innovative and effective teaching.
- Assessment and grading of student work.
- Willingness and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
- Commitment to university and department mission.
- Use of relevant technology for teaching and communication.
- Hold office hours every week which include participation in academic advising, and attendance in departmental and university meetings as requested or required.
- Maintain an active program of professional development.
- Provide service to department, university, local health committees and the profession.

Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- MSN required
- Preferred: Doctorate degree in Nursing or related field.
- Hold an unencumbered TN RN license.
- Documented expertise in maternal newborn nursing.
- Successful experience in teaching and scholarly activities preferred
- Doctorate degree required for tenure and/or promotion.
- A background search will be required for the successful applicant.
