Associate Director, Sports Performance

Position is responsible to oversee all aspects of the year round training and conditioning of the Men’s Basketball, and other assigned sports teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in overseeing proper use of weight room facility in the Dunn Center while supervising student athletes.
• Assess student athletes regarding strength and flexibility needs.
• Discuss proper nutrition needs and practices.
• Write and implement individual training programs for athletes and the Men’s Basketball, and other assigned sports teams.
• Work with Director of Sports Performance to assign coaches and teams to weightlifting time blocks.
• Oversee, stock, and manage fulling station in Dunn Center.
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of resistance training principles and periodization.
- Understanding and appreciation of the major weight training philosophies such as Powerlifting, Olympic Weight Lifting, High Intensity Interval Training, and Functional Training.
- Knowledge of general and sport specific aerobic and anaerobic conditioning principles and periodization.
- Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents of said athletes, Athletic Trainers, Academic Counselors, Athletic and Academic Administrators, and Sport Coaches.
- Deep and sincere appreciation in the principles of wellness, especially as it pertains to sleep, hygiene, and the importance of living and teaching performance nutrition and hydration principles.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and/or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certified
