The Department of Student Life & Engagement is seeking energetic and student-centered individuals to serve as Student Engagement and Programming Specialist. This position supports the planning and implementation of campus programs and traditions that foster engagement, belonging, and school spirit.

Student Engagement and Programming Specialists work approximately 32 weeks during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and are expected to work primarily evenings and weekends based on event schedules. This position averages 20 hours per week and reports to coordinators within Student Life & Engagement. Pay is $15-$17 per hour.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assigned programs, events, and special projects from planning through implementation under the direction of Student Life & Engagement staff. Events include Homecoming, Welcome Week, student organization events, and more.
  • Collaborate with Student Life & Engagement staff to support departmental initiatives, strategic priorities, and campus traditions.
  • Provide support to programs and initiatives supporting Greek-lettered organizations and student organizations.
  • Assist with event logistics, crowd management, and participant engagement.
  • Support event breakdown and ensure spaces are restored following programs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, vendors, and student leaders to support program success.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the Department of Student Life & Engagement in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive environment for students and guests.
  • Support outreach efforts, marketing distribution, and event promotion to increase student participation and awareness.
  • Support departmental initiatives, projects, and special events as assigned.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks including data entry, inventory management, supply organization, and record keeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental programming initiatives.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of related experience coordinating projects, programs, events, or administrative operations.
  • Knowledge of best practices in event planning, project coordination, customer service, and administrative support.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
