Position Summary
The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology invites applications for an Instructor of Computer Science & IT Position. This is a full-time, 9-month, 3-year, renewable position to begin August 2026 OR January 2027 (negotiable).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and instruct mostly beginning-level CSCI courses, while overseeing large courses through effective coordination with instructors across multiple class sections.
Teach mostly beginning courses in information systems, information technology, computer science, and participate in curriculum development for Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, or Computer Science majors.
Develop and teach on-ground and online courses.
Advise majors.
Possess the knowledge, talents, and skills in the discipline to promote effective teaching.
Demonstrate respect for the different learning needs of students.
Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and course content.
Demand and maintain high standards and expectations for all students.
Implement teaching activities and a diversity of teaching techniques, procedures, and resources, including the application of technology.
Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques that are appropriate for each course.
Use multiple measures to assess student learning regularly and provide frequent feedback to students relative to their performance.
Be available and knowledgeable and demonstrate proficiency in the practice of academic advisement of students.
Help to organize, purchase, manage, test, and maintain all software/hardware of the department, for all computer laboratories (teaching / open), and research laboratories (robotics / networking / cybersecurity labs). Manage all student lab workers.
Manage all student graders/tutors. Assist in the operations of the outreach activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Teach mostly beginning courses in information systems, information technology, and computer science, and participate in curriculum development for the Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, or Computer Science majors.
Develop and teach on-ground and online courses.
Manage and coordinate large courses, ensuring effective planning, organization, and delivery to maintain high educational standards.
Advise majors.
Organize, manage, test, purchase, and maintain all software/hardware of the department.
Manage student workers and assist in outreach activities.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.
OR Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information technology, computer science (or a related discipline) with at least five years of relevant working experience in the field.
OR Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information technology, computer science (or a related discipline) and at least 18 graduate semester hours in a computing program (or a related discipline).
Evidence of potential ability in academic assignments and/or professional contributions and activities related to the duties and responsibilities of this job.
