Austin Peay State University’s College of Business, in pursuit of AACSB accreditation, invites applicants for an Instructor of Business Communication with teaching interests in business communication to begin in August 2026.
This is a three-year, renewable, nontenure, contract role to teach eight three-hour courses per year: four courses in Fall; four courses in Spring. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires active teaching related to the discipline.
Essential Functions
•Possess the knowledge, talents, and skills in business communication or a closely related discipline and in multiple teaching methodologies, including hybrid, flipped, and blended courses.
•Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students.
•Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for business communication courses taught.
•Demand and maintain high standards and expectations for all students.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
• Candidates must be qualified as Scholarly Academic (SA) or as an Instructional Practitioner (IP) per AACSB standards. To meet these standards, a candidate must have:
- recently earned a doctorate in communication, or
- earned a doctorate in communication and have recent publications related to communication (SA) or
- earned a Master’s degree in Communication or MBA with Business school teaching experience, and professional experience that is current, substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility (over five years), and clearly linked to the field of Business Communication.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the requirements of AACSB accreditation.
- Teaching Philosophy Statement
A background search will be required of the successful candidate.

If the journal is not on the ABDC list, please note this. All publications will be considered, but preference will be given to publications listed on the ABDC list. In addition, please include any significant consulting projects.
If you have not completed your degree, please submit a letter from your committee chair with an anticipated completion date.
The individual selected for this role must maintain qualifications to teach in the field through practice work such as consulting and/or publication of discipline-related academic research.
