Austin Peay State University’s College of Business, in pursuit of AACSB accreditation, invites applicants for an Instructor of Marketing with teaching interests in marketing and sales to begin in August 2026.

This is a three-year, renewable, nontenure contract role to teach eight three-hour courses per year: four courses in Fall; four courses in Spring. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires active teaching related to the discipline.

Essential Functions

•Possess knowledge, talents, and skills in marketing and sales or a closely related discipline, and in multiple teaching methodologies including online, hybrid, flipped, and blended courses.

The ideal candidate should be able to teach various marketing and sales courses, including but not limited to Retailing Management, Sales Management, and Principles of Marketing.

•Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students.

•Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for marketing and sales courses taught.

•Demand and maintain high standards and expectations for all students.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At minimum, candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Master’s Degree in Marketing, or
  • Master’s Degree in Business with 18 graduate hours in Marketing, or
  • Master's Degree in Business, Public Relations, or Communication

Candidates must possess 3+ years of professional, managerial experience sales, sales management, sales training, and/or marketing that is current, substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and clearly linked to the field

While not required, the preferred candidate will also have business school teaching experience.

This position requires teaching a variety of marketing courses. In both your cover letter and CV, please make apparent the scope of the marketing or marketing-related roles you have occupied, along with key accomplishments.

While this position does not require research, those candidates submitting publications on their CVs should include with each entry the publication ranking on the Australian Business Dean Council (ABDC) list. The ranking should be A*, A, B, or C. If the journal is not on the ABDC list, please note this. In addition, please include any significant consulting projects.

If you have not completed your degree, please submit a letter from your committee chair or advisor with an anticipated completion date.

The individual selected for this role must maintain qualifications to teach in the field through practice work such as consulting and/or publication of discipline-related academic research.
