The Assistant Director of University Events and Engagement supports the planning, coordination, and execution of a wide range of University events and engagement initiatives. This role manages smaller-scale events such as ribbon cuttings and student engagement activities, while also supporting the marketing and promotion of all events produced by the Office of University Events and Engagement. The position plays a key role in ensuring events are well-executed, on brand, and aligned with the University’s engagement and advancement goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute smaller University events, including ribbon cuttings, recognitions, student engagement programs, and internal or community-facing events, ensuring consistency with University standards and goals.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and community stakeholders, including academic units, student organizations, and administrative offices, to ensure successful engagement and alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Support the marketing and promotion of events by coordinating event communications, timelines, and messaging in collaboration with marketing, communications, and digital teams; assist with invitations, registrations, and promotional materials all in conjunction with the University’s Public Relations office and procedures.
  • Assist with event logistics and planning of larger-scale events with the Sr. Director of University Events and Engagement, including venue coordination, timelines, run-of-show documents, vendor communication, and on-site event management.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Office of University Events and Engagement, including tracking event details, maintaining documentation, and assisting with post-event follow-up and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in event planning

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to coordinate and administer programs/projects, activities and protocols.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowePoint, Word) and other databases and software
  • Ability to maintain records, track engagement, and support reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
