Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Placement is responsible to track students as they advance through licensure programs. Performs administrative duties related to student teaching and field experiences.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 180,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

This is a 10-month position that does not work the months of June and July.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze transcripts to determine courses needed for licensure or to determine if student is making adequate progress through the program. Contact and advise students on next steps to complete the program.
  • Respond to correspondence and messages related to teacher certification and milestone reviews.
  • Maintain an electronic records system (Excel, Banner, and/or SLL) to include data on teacher candidate performance and teacher unit operations.
  • Generate reports needed by the administration and faculty in the COE (ARGOS, etc).
  • Input data from certification and clinical teaching offices related to student progression in education programs.
  • Input security screening checks and provide faculty with updates.
  • Supervise student employees and graduate assistants.
  • Advise and clear students for registration for student teaching.
  • Collect video forms for student teachers and maintain them in the share drive based on semester.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) as well as SungardHE Banner.
  • Knowledge of requirements for teacher licensure and state requirements for licensure.
  • Knowledge of individual program requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with various populations, the University community and the public.
  • Ability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively supervise student personnel and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of previous office experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office software or other comparable spreadsheet program.
  • A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
