Position Summary | The Health and Wellness Promotion Coordinator, a pivotal role reporting to the Director of Counseling and Health Services, plays a significant part in Austin Peay State University’s mission to foster a culture of student wellness. This role is instrumental in creating a pluralistic learning environment and promoting student health and wellbeing. The coordinator, as part of a dynamic team, will drive the strategy, vision, and operational leadership to develop a campus community where students thrive.
This position is a key player in a cross-divisional and cross-institutional approach to administer the services, functions, programs, and activities related to student wellbeing. The Health and Wellness Promotion Coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate outreach and education activities in three primary areas of student life: Health Promotion, Mental Health and Wellness, and Alcohol and other drug use prevention. The coordinator’s student-centered approach is a cornerstone in contributing to a caring and safe campus life environment that supports the holistic success of its students.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities | Community Outreach - Coordinate opportunities to enhance the Health and Wellbeing success of students.
- Coordinate educational programs and campus events that foster a welcoming health and wellbeing environment.
- Assess student wellness through campus wide surveys, interviews, administrative reports and other methods.
- Serve as team lead for campus suicide prevention plan; AOD Education and other opportunities that may be relevant
Student Success - Coordinate programs and opportunities to enhance the academic success of students with a focus on initiatives related to health and wellbeing.
- Facilitate collaborative partnerships with campus stakeholders in presenting programs and fostering the Health and Wellbeing of students through programs, lectures, discussions and workshops.
- Assist in the recruitment of under-represented students by participation in events such as GOVS Orientation and GOVS Preview Days; including coordination of Transfer Student Orientation
- Implement evidence-based programming to improve student wellness awareness and behavior and to eliminate health and wellness disparities.
- Supervise the counseling services graduate assistant (if applicable)
Department and Division - Maintain open communications with the Director of Counseling and Health Services to share information and engage in issue-spotting and creative problem-solving to benefit the University community.
- Work with the Director of Counseling and Health Services to coordinate the utilization of resources of the with student affairs but particularly Health and Counseling Services.
- Communicate regularly with the Health and Wellbeing Advisory Committee and schedule meetings as appropriate.
- Collaborate with community partners to provide resource support for students.
- Coordinate timely and accurate preparation of reports.
- Stay informed and educate the University community and stakeholders as needed regarding issues, trends, and regulations impacting students.
- Participate in related professional organizations for continuing development.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications | - Bachelor’s degree and related experience.
- Knowledge of best practices to support adult, nontraditional, and transfer students in the university setting
- Skills that exemplify collaboration, communication, action and advocacy.

- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to administer multiple deadlines and tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess data.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications: - Complementing the required skills and qualifications:
- Master’s degree, and at least 2 years of related experience as a full-time professional or graduate assistant.
- CHES/CPH Certification or eligibility preferred;
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with leading special initiatives, programs, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated successful experience working in a health-related field with a college student population, and/or with underserved/underrepresented populations.
- Knowledge of pertinent professional standards in higher education.
