Position Summary | The GIS Technician works under direct supervision of the Director of the GIS Center and has primary responsibility in GIS projects along with daily duties for the GIS Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities | - GIS mapping and Geodatabase design with current GIS Projects.
- Collect GPS information through the use of GPS equipment.
- Maintain GPS projects.
- Update and maintain GIS files and maps.
- Produce technical writings related to GIS/GPS technology.
- Work with city and county clients on GIS and GPS projects.
- Prepare and maintain cartographic maps.
- Expand client/project base and identify new opportunities and markets for the Center.
- Assist with the development and writing of contracts and grants at the Center.
- Develop new GIS/GPS applications.
- Work with students on GIS/GPS projects and supervise as needed.
- Teach GIS/GPS software to students and clients.
- Update city and county GIS clients on a regular basis.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to use ESRI ArcGIS Software for mapping projects.
- Ability to make mathematical computations accurately.
- Ability to learn new software programs related to GIS and water quality management.
- Ability to manipulate and export GIS Data for use in other software including water quality and stormwater models
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software. (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Physical Requirements | - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications | - Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Geography, GIS, Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Pro
- Experience with GPS equipment and software programs including Survey123, Field Maps, and/or Collector
- A background search will be required of the successful applicant.
