Position Summary | Responsible to provide academic advising, educational counseling, and assistance with college applications, registration, and financial literacy for high school students navigating the dual enrollment experience.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 180,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN. |
Primary Duties and Responsibilities | - Serve as the academic advisor for Dual Enrollment students, ensuring course selection aligns with long-term degree goals.
- Conduct advising sessions and course registration for students each term, assisting in major declaration or changes.
- Monitor student progress through midterm grades, academic alerts, and attendance reports; communicate with students, parents, and counselors as needed.
- Utilize retention data and proactive advising techniques to support student success.
- Refer students to academic resources and recommend actions for those in academic difficulty.
- Assist with maintaining compliance documentation and compiling reports for SACSCOC, NACEP, THEC, TSAC, and APSU policies.
- Support program development and initiatives aligned with the university’s mission.
Recruitment & Outreach:
- Enhance student body diversity by recruiting non-degree-seeking Dual Enrollment students.
- Represent the university at recruitment events, high school visits, college fairs, and outreach activities.
- Assist prospective students with the admissions and grant application process.
- Coordinate logistics between off-site campus stakeholders, high school partners, and APSU.
Student Engagement & Retention:
- Track and manage student appointments, alerts, and notifications.
- Participate in student retention initiatives.
- Assist in planning and delivering workshops, classroom presentations, and advising-related programming.
- Support the Director in setting and assessing student advising objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements | - Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Required Minimum Qualifications | - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Experience working in an educational and/or university setting with a diverse student population.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid driver’s license.
