Position Summary | The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible to perform duties involved in inspecting, servicing, and repairing, heating, cooling, ventilating and refrigeration equipment for the University.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. Primary Duties and Responsibilities | - Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment to include the following: chillers, boilers, air handlers, roof top units, pumps and steam systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair control circuits for all HVAC equipment and BMS controls.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records on equipment, include refrigerant usage logs.
- Serve as boiler operator at main plant as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under some unfavorable climatic conditions.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties.

Physical Requirements | - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Bending, twisting and lifting weights to 100lbs.
- Heights and working on elevations of 60 feet.
- Work off ladders and lifts.
- Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection) as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications | - High school graduate, trade school or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years commercial HVAC work experience.
- Universal refrigerant-handling certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
