Position Summary
The temporary English Language Coordinator is responsible for fostering an organizational culture and climate that fully supports English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners and enhances Austin Peay’s contribution to global learner by developing and applying policies specific to English Language programs offered by the Institute; English Language Institute program recruitment and services and offering, managing, and publicizing English language programs and degree opportunities for EAL learners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Program Management

  • Develop and implement ELI plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of various ELI activities
  • Deliver ELI progress and performance (i.e. instructors’ performance and overall performance; tutoring feedback, student feedback, etc.), and adjusting as needed by coordinating with ISS
  • Ensure compliance with APSU policies, procedures, and any applicable regulations (i.e. SEVIS, ICE) by working with PWD and ISS
2. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ELI stakeholders, including students, other departments, and community leaders
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between different stakeholders.
  • Gather feedback and address any concerns or issues that arise
3. Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain accurate ELI records, documentation, and reporting
  • Prepare and submit program-related reports
  • Coordinate logistics, such as scheduling meetings and managing ELI resources
4. Team Coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., International Student Services, Admissions) to ensure success.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and instructors.
  • Identify and address any training or development needs within the ELI team
  • Interview and recommend instructors as needed.
  • Maintain contracts (create, renew) for instructors.
5. Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement
  • Implement process enhancements and best practices to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stay up to date with US- EAL trends, regulations, and best practices

Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of one year experience in a management, customer service, or coordinating role
  • Experience in coordinating and/or managing projects, events, or programs
  • ·Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency in using various software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think strategically and analytically.
