Position Summary
The Parking Control Assistant will be responsible to coordinate daily and event parking. Work collectively with dispatch and parking staff to ensure parking regulations are continued throughout the University.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Parking Enforcement
  • Assist with the Parking and Transportation office activities to include but not limited to: record keeping, front office duties, and budgeting.
  • Walking patrol;
  • Write/issue citations;
  • Monitor lots and report hazards and parking lot parking equipment damage;
  • May set up, take down, and maintain inventory of all equipment;
  • Assist with disabled vehicles and battery jumps;
  • Coordinate staff for on-site event parking. This includes managing personnel/organizations, directing the parking operations, and ensuring the proper closure of the parking areas.
  • May evaluate and document strategies to enhance the APSU event parking system
  • Assist with the Parking and Transportation office activities to include but not limited to: record keeping, front office duties, and budgeting.
  • Input scheduled events into parking software.
Assist with vehicle fleet
  • Cleaning
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Route creation and maintenance
  • May evaluate and document strategies to enhance the APSU fleet program
  • Create and maintain vehicle maintenance schedules
  • Ensure regular inspection of vehicles and oversee preventive maintenance
  • Maintain vehicle inventory to include schedule of departmental use
  • Follow all vehicle regulations, policy, and laws
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

  • Computer skills;
  • Demonstrate ability to learn university rules and regulation; university layout, and parking rules and regulations
Physical Requirements
  • Position will involve standing, walking, driving service vehicles, lifting, sitting, and working both indoor and outdoors.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent ;
  • Minimum of one year experience in parking enforcement, a public safety field, or in a position with similar duties and responsibilities.
