Position Summary
The Customer Service and Print Specialist will be responsible to provide exceptional customer service while supporting the operational needs of the APSU department of printing services.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet and direct customers and answer phone calls.
  • Maintain necessary records and files.
  • Explain various services and assist customers in selecting appropriate service(s) needed.
  • Customer services, such as advising on layout, paper stock, inks, post-production and materials for cost efficiency and best results and provide project cost estimates.
  • Operate bindery, hand finishing equipment, and signage production, which includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions under general direction of the Print Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies; operate cash register.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software in a Mac or PC environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • Ability to operate a variety of duplicating and finishing equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workflow.
  • Ability to effectively train and supervise student workers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.
  • Ability to detect and correct grammatical and spelling errors in written correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs.
Physical Requirements
  • Light Work: Bending, twisting, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a customer service-related role.
  • Some print industry and sign experience a plus.
  • A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
