| Position Summary | Temporary position performing work such as preparing and painting buildings, equipment, furniture, and various other surfaces. |

| Primary Duties and Responsibilities | -Prepare surfaces prior to painting. -Hand brush or roll paint buildings, areas, equipment, furniture and other surfaces. -Determine type and kind of materials needed, time allowance between coats and the number of coats required, adequacy of surface preparation and areas to be painted. -Apply primer, sealer and undercoats to walls and ceilings. -Thin material to proper consistency and mix and match paints to surfaces being painted. -Set up scaffolding as needed. -Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection) as required. -Perform other duties as assigned. |
| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | -Ability to effectively follow the principles, practices, and methods of painting. -Ability to effectively mix paint colors. -Ability to effectively prepare surfaces and apply primers, sealers, undercoats and thinners. -Ability to effectively operate equipment used in painting. -Ability to effectively follow safety precautions to be used when working with the necessary equipment. -Ability to effectively apply paint evenly and consistently on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. -Ability to paint above shoulder level for an extended period of time. -Ability to work at high elevations using ladders, scaffolding, or other appropriate means. -Ability to communicate effectively. -Ability to maintain confidentiality. -Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public. -Ability to read and follow written instructions. -Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. -Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties. |
| Physical Requirements | -Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. -Bending, twisting and lifting weights to 100lbs. -Heights and working on elevations of 60 feet. -Work of ladders and lifts. |
| Required Minimum Qualifications | -High school graduate or equivalent -Experience in exterior/interior painting on metal, porous and finished surfaces. -Experience in working with sheet rock, plaster, and other surface preparations. -Valid driver’s license. -A background check will be required of the successful applicant. |
