Position will work under general supervision and perform a variety of skilled tasks relating to building maintenance, construction and finish carpentry.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

-Construct and maintain new classrooms, office spaces, book shelves, etc.
-Construct rough wooden structures.
-Install and repair doors, windows, hardware and screens in designated positions in building framework.
-Install, patch and finish drywall.
-Construct various types of trim work, roofing, tiling and other minor repairs to buildings.
-Examine specifications to determine dimensions of structures.
-Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection)as required.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
-Bending, twisting and lifting weights to 100lbs.
-Heights and working on elevations of 60 feet.
-Work of ladders and lifts.

-High school graduate or equivalent.
-A minimum of two (2) years of previous work experience in all aspects of carpentry work.
-Valid driver’s license.
