Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will assist with scheduling, communication, and general coordination of maintenance and improvement projects managed within the Physical Plant. The Project Coordinator will also serve as liaison with the APSU custodial service contractor and monitor Physical Plant service contracts for compliance with contract terms.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet with campus stakeholders to gather information regarding potential projects or concerns related to the physical environment
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders and Physical Plant personnel via telephone, e-email, or in-person
  • Coordinate updates to interior and exterior building signs
  • Develop project schedules and monitor progress
  • Create budget tracking spreadsheets for projects and monitor expenses
  • Meet regularly with Custodial Contract Site Manager, communicate campus concerns regarding performance, and monitor key metrics of performance
  • Monitor service contracts within the Physical Plant (elevator service, pest service, trash pickup, etc.) Track performance metrics and provide periodic reports to department leaders.
  • Other occasional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts
  • Ability to use a personal computer and various software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, email, scheduling)
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to organize multiple simultaneous projects and manage time effectively
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use telephone for voice communication
  • Ability to use computer/cell phone for email and text communication
  • Ability to see to effectively conduct custodial and project inspections
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration, communication, or related field. An Associate degree and three years of related experience can be substituted for bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A background check will be required of the successful applicant
